Counselor
I am so excited to serve as counselor of this excellent campus and wonderful school community! Our students achieve academic success with parents who are most supportive and a faculty absolutely committed to learning for all, whatever it takes.

My educational background includes teaching elementary students in Bridge City, teaching at Lamar State College Orange, working in Nederland ISD as an administrator, and serving as principal of Kountze Elementary. I have also been an adjunct instructor at Lamar Institute of Technology for the past 12 years, teaching evening courses.

I was raised in Opelousas, La. and love my Cajun heritage and cuisine. My husband, Jerry, and I are parents of 2 adult children. Our son, Jerrad, and his wife, Cody, reside in Cypress (north Houston) with our 2-year-old granddaughter and newborn grandson. Our daughter, Jacqueline, is married to Josh Elliff; they live in Arlington, TX and are parents of our newborn granddaughter. I enjoy facilitating ladiesí Bible studies, volunteering with various ministries, running and weight lifting, and savoring good food. Faith, family, friends, fitness, and food are my favorites!
Counseling
Taft students attend counseling classes about twice a month.  The main focus of the classes revolves around our "Character Counts" curriculum.  Students are taught about traits such as trustworthiness, kindness, citizenship, fairness, and responsiblity.  Other topics, such as drug awareness, manners, test anxiety, child abuse, and social skills are also addressed.

Individual counseling as well as group counseling in areas such as grief, divorce, and social skills is available.  Additionally, the counselor's office has many resources available in these areas.  There are also books, pamphlet, and videos available for teaching safety, responsibility, and self discipline.

Please feel free to call me a 962-8576 if I can help you in any way.
